inspired by this song by misty edwards:
You won't relent until You have it all
My heart is YoursI'll set You as a seal upon my heart
As a seal upon my arm
For there is love that is as strong as death
Jealousy demanding as the grave
Many waters cannot quench this loveCome be the fire inside of me
Come be the flame upon my heart
come be the fire inside of me
Until You and I are one
so... i'm in week 19 of our "52" project on flickr. a group of friends and myself have decided to keep our creative juices flowing every week by posting 1 type of art [photo, painting, design, etc] to flickr that we created during that week. yes, a year of art. we figure it helps keep those of us who do art for a living enjoying our craft and doing non-job art. and for those who don't do art for a living, it is an avenue in which they can grow their skills as well.
want to follow along? [there are many other - much more talented artists - including my fiance - in our group] 52 FLICKR PROJECT
life is a gift.
i heard someone say exactly that a while ago and it was like a glass of cold water on my face. and yet, i continually get wrapped up in minute details - so much so that i keep missing the point! life is a gift.
and i know its not always fun, or easy. sometimes life downright sucks. but in the midst of our every day life we have to enjoy ourselves and enjoy each other and laugh. who doesn't love to laugh so hard you can't breathe?
anyway, i stumbled across a blog that kind of renewed these thoughts in my mind. this girl, a freelance photographer, has fun with life and you can tell. she's full of adventures and random ideas - like sticking little hearts, or thought bubbles, or googly eyes on objects around town. then capturing those moments. just thought i'd share:
i was reading about another new artist this morning [thanks to artistaday.com's igoogle widget] and thought i'd share. lucy is a mural artist and painter. and another artist from the UK. her site is: lucy mclauchlan
please go check her out. i am seriously in love with her work and you will be too. her illustrations are subtle and organic - really just beautiful. turns out she's only 3 years older than me and she's already done work for companies like faber and faber, volvo and puffin books. not to mention she was chosen as one of ten up-and-coming design names who are blazing a trail in the UK today.
here is an interesting artist i stumbled into.
arne quinze
i can't speak to his full volume of work, but some of his installations are quite intriguing. this image on the left is from REBIRTH at a five star hotel in paris, called le royal monceau. the hotel was closing for a year to remodel and held a demolition event for one night which featured quinze's wooden sculpture through the entire hotel...
i've been working on designing wedding pieces for stephanie and mike's wedding, which is set for next spring. i created the background illustration and everything just went from there. sage and pink are steph's colors. we're still working on some of the other parts, but we finalized the invite and save the date. consider them d-u-n, done!
